HYPNOSIS IS
a natural state
You experience a hypnotic state when you are:
-
Daydreaming: When you "zone out" and lose track of time while imagining scenarios or thoughts, you're in a light trance state. Your focus narrows to your internal world and you're less aware of your surroundings.
-
Driving on Autopilot: Have you ever driven a familiar route and suddenly realised you can't remember parts of the journey? This "highway hypnosis" is a natural trance state, where your conscious mind lets go while your subconscious takes over routine tasks.
-
Watching TV or Reading: Getting engrossed in a book, movie or TV show can put you in a trance-like state. You become so focused on the story that your sense of time and external awareness fades.
-
Meditation or Prayer: Practices that involve focus and relaxation, like meditation or prayer, often induce trance states similar to hypnosis, characterised by calmness and increased receptiveness.
-
Before Sleep (Hypnagogic State): The moments before falling asleep or just after waking up (the hypnagogic or hypnopompic states) are natural times when your mind drifts into a trance-like condition.

HYPNOTHERAPY IS
a powerful and effective tool
In a hypnotherapy session, you can expect a calm, relaxed environment where you will be guided into a deeply relaxed state.
-
Initial Discussion: The practitioner will begin by discussing your goals, concerns, and any issues you'd like to address. This helps tailor the session to your specific needs.
-
Induction: The practitioner will use techniques like deep breathing or guided imagery to help you relax deeply. You'll be encouraged to focus on calming your mind and body.
-
Trance State: As you relax, you'll enter a focused state of concentration (the trance), where your conscious mind becomes less active, and your subconscious mind is more receptive. You'll still be aware of your surroundings but may feel deeply relaxed or even drowsy.
-
Therapeutic Work: While in the relaxed state, the practitioner will use suggestions, visualisation, or other techniques to address the issue you're working on—whether it's reducing anxiety, managing pain, breaking bad habits, or other goals.
-
Emerging from Trance: After the therapeutic work is done, the practitioner will gradually guide you back to full awareness. You'll feel relaxed but alert, often with a sense of clarity.
-
Post-Session Discussion: Once you're fully awake and alert, the therapist may discuss the session with you, helping you process any insights or changes you experienced.
Hypnotherapy is generally gentle and safe, and you'll be in control throughout the process. Each session can vary depending on your goals and needs.

-
A Loss of Control
-
Hypnosis does not involve “zoning out” or being unaware.
-
You remain fully conscious and aware of your surroundings.
-
You can stop the session at any time if you choose.
-
-
Mind Reading or Magic
-
Intuition is part of the process, but hypnosis doesn’t predict the future or read minds.
-
The focus is on working with your subconscious to enhance self-awareness and promote positive change.
-
-
A Cure-All
-
Hypnosis is a complementary practice and not a standalone solution.
-
It’s a helpful tool for self-improvement but does not replace necessary medical or psychological treatments.
-
-
-
Set Clear Intentions: Reflect on what you hope to achieve during the session.
-
Wear Comfortable Clothing.
-
Create a Quiet Space: find a comfortable, distraction-free environment.
-
You may feel deeply relaxed or inspired. It’s helpful to journal any thoughts or insights that surfaced during the session. Over time, the suggestions and insights from the session may integrate naturally into your daily life. A hypnosis session is a powerful tool for personal transformation, helping you align with your goals, release limitations, and connect with your inner wisdom.
